I'm just sort of assumming that Doggett will turn out to be in league with CSM, the Consortium, etc. When you think about it, with the exception of our Dynamic Duo themselves, EVERY agent connected with the X-Files � Krycek, Fowl Thing and Spender � has turned out to have a "connection" with CSM that wasn't apparent when the character was first introduced. I can't see any reason why Doggett would be different.
I agree with some of Detoured's comments about what CC seems to be trying to do with the Doggett character. CC contradicts himself in various interviews on this subject. In some articles I've read, he insists that Mulder is still the main character, that even the episodes in which DD doesn't actually appear will have a strong Mulder influence, that Doggett is NOT a replacement for Mulder, that he's just another supporting character, etc. In others � like the EW one that most of us hated � he takes the view that RP is the new lead actor in the show.
Just as CC has tried to "walk the line" for so long, between shippers and noromos in re the MSR, it seems he's now trying to straddle the fence between those of us who want Mulder to remain the main character and those who don't care.
