It did have some interesting things to say about violence and stuff but it just wasn't executed well in my opinion. There was just too much little boy stuff. I personally didn't care for Mulder's sillly behavior and thought he was kind of out of character. That may seem to contradict things because I do think he's really cute when he acts like a kid in certain situations but here it didn't work for me.

Part of the problem for me was the reaction to Musashi's deah. The poor guy got all hacked up and they didn't react to it appropriately. They just went on with wanting to have fun playing this game. Maybe if they had played the whpoel thing much more seriously and left out the humor entirely it might have been a very compelling epsiode. They tried to put to much into it.

Has anyone ever seen a movie called Westworld? This reminded me of that a bit. It's one of the scrariest movies ever and involves modern technology going horribly wrong. Very chilling. In FPS don't think the mixture of humor and the guys acting like litle boys along with the gravity of the situation and what this thing was capable of doing came off right. Maybe that's what was part of what was wrong for me.

I think at times we Americans may have different ideas on what we think is funny but I also know that Monty Python and Fawlty Towers is hugely popular in the US and shows like Whose Line is it Anyway? are also big with Americans so I don't know if we can use that as an argument.
