Subject: I was surprised by this ep
In reply to: detoured 's message, "A bit of slagging ;-)" on 01:02:41 06/15/00 Thu

When I heard it was written by the same people as Killswitch I thought I would hate it cos I really didn't enjoy killswitch at all but I was pleasantly surprised by this ep. I think the fact that the game was so boring and just a case of shooting the crap out of things was intentional, it accented the whole point Scully kept putting across, about how pathetic men are etc etc. I liked the bit when she was talking to the woman and said she did know what it was like working with all the testosterone flying about (excuse the spelling if it's wrong - english was never my best subject). I thought it was quite a strong point that she's never mentioned before and it's something that I've never really noticed but I suppose she spends a lot of time surrounded by men at her work and lets face it, the lone gunmen are probably even worse than Mulder for acting like little boys with their toys. I thought it was good and something new for the XF. I also didn't realise they would be in it - it's been too long since we saw them last.

It's quite interesting what you said about the Americans not liking this ep. I heard someone talking about Americans once, and how as a general rule they have a completely different sense of humour to the british. I thought this was just a stereotype and wasn't really fair but who knows? maybe it's true. I think this person was slagging americans a bit though. They were saying how you guys don't understand irony at all and if it's used in a comic sense yous don't get it. I think that's insulting your intelegence a bit though isn't it? Frasier's a hit in america right? Any time I've watched it the majority of jokes are pure irony. Anyway, I'm starting to babble now and I'd better watch what I'm saying, I'm always so scared I offend someone here, I was just talking to someone 2day and we were saying you have to be so politically correct now, it's getting ridiculous. But I have a habit of slagging off the english (sorry, I think it's like genetic or something, everyone does it in this country) and no offence but the rest of the world has a bit of a habit of slagging of americans even though most of them are ok. (we don't mean it ;-) )

I'm babbling again. I'll shut up now. ;-)
