Subject: Hey Stardoe! (all things spoilers)
In reply to: Stardoe 's message, "all things.......great and small, in and out, round about etc etc." on 06:10:56 07/19/00 Wed

I'm with you, I still think Scully's reaction in the teaser was wierd. Not just her look but why she left. That's why I think things started before this and now maybe they've just settled into a routine. If you want to her more of my hairbrained theories on that read my "When when when" post on the Season 7 board (I think it's safe for you to go there now since you know so much ;-) )
Good points on Scully worrying so much about what people think and tying that in with X-Cops. I think that's so true. And we know Mulder is just the opposite. He doesn't care what anyone thinks about him. That may be an obstacle between them.

So you think they did the NP huh? I remember when this first aired and even shippers were saying they didn't do anything. I think part of it was because it was such a surprise. We go from practically nothing to everything!
I was leaning toward no as well. So why are you convinced?

I thought the David Crosby line was weird too. It made me think of Mulder's biological clock line in The Unnatural. Both DD and GA's eps had aliens about Scully having children. I wonder if that means anything?

You know I didn't even think about the couch scene being part of the whole slow mo theme of the ep! It could have been which would be very clever of GA. Cool. Maybe be she was saying that that was another very important moment.

The guy who played Daniel used to be on a soap opera I watched. He was a very popular character. Kindf of a ruged Indiana Jones type if you can believe it! And then he died but he still came back on the show anyway years later. He has aged quite a bit! ;-)

OK now the rest of this post is really my post from the all things thread you missed out on earlier. (So it may red a little funny. Check out the rest of that thread!) No one answered me down there :-( so maybe it will fair better here. It gives a lot of my thoughts on the ep so I thought it bring it up here.

det, wondering what 'the dirts' is???
Here's the other post...

I think islandgirl has it right. The big point of the episode may very well be that Scully has learned that with Mulder is where she wants to be. I think the fighting between them was there for a purpose to give them some space and then show they would always be there for each other in the end. Some have thought that Mulder's trip to see the crop cirlcles may really have been just planned with the hopes that Scully would join him for a vacation and when she got snippy he was kind of put off. But they don't stay mad at each other for long. There's too much love (platonic, romantic, whatever) there.

The opening scene sure stunned me too! This was one spoiler I hadn't heard about at all and when I saw it was Mulder in that bed I actually started saying "Oh my god!" over and over out loud at the screen! It distracted me too throughout the ep because I kept waiting for an explantion and then we got that confusing but oh so beautiful ending scene. First we are meant to think M&S did sleep together and then we are meant to doubt that since Scully falls asleep on the couch and Mulder leaves. That, as you may have guessed, has been the subject of major debate ever since! Did they or didn't they?! Once again CC manages to makes us all wonder. Btw did you guys know that GA didn't write the last scene, CC did? GA's reason was that she didn't have time but I'm thinking there may be more significance to it later on so CC needed to put his stamp on it.

I assume by last scene that means the couch one or maybe he wrote the teaser which happened last? But I love that couch scene. The way Mulder tucks her in so gently and looks at her was just so sweet.

I agree the blonde woman really wasn't there but just a symbol. I think she was a guide for Scully to set her on the right path. (I don't know why she was shown as a blonde woman though.) The fact that she turned into Mulder shows that her path leads to him. It really is saying that he is her destiny, I think. Again it doesn't have to be romantic. But she's had doubts about whether or not the FBI and the life she's had the past 7 years has been the right one and this just examined that. I'm still not sure if she entirely made up her mind. In the opening teaser (which happens last chronologically) she still looks rather pensive. What is she thinking?
The guy who played her ex boyfriend used to be on a soap opera I watch sometimes! He played a nice guy on that! I too was surprised that Scully had a fling with that guy. But it does fit with her 'wild' side along side eps like Never Again and also when we learned about her instructor she used to date, Jack Willis.

As for GA as a writer/director I like what she did with it. My one complaint was that I felt I was looking too much at GA's own phlosophy and interests rather than Scully. I know from things I've read that she's into a lot of new age stuff and so I felt like I was watching GA's ideas about GA more than Scully at times. Maybe it was too out there for Scully or maybe it fit to have her take a couple of leaps. I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if she really needed to have this be about her having an affair at all. The episode was about the choices she'd made but they could have just focused on her role in the FBI. Orginally I had heard from spoilers it was supposed to be about her being a female in the FBI, etc. I think that might have been an interesting story. I was a bit bored with all the Daniel scenes. We just meet this guy and it was hard to be all that interested in the past he had with Scully. PLus he sounds like a nut following hr to Washington! Like another Phillip Padget from Milagro! What's with Scully and all these stalkers!?

I thought some of her camera choices were interesting with the slow mo stuff. Maybe a bit overdone but understandable for a first time director. I think with that there's a tendency to be overly creative. But I liked some of the shots she chose such as the water in the sink in the teaser. I hear she had a lot of guidance from director Kim Manners on this.

What do you think the significance was of Mulder having a Buddha statue in his apartment? I liked the UFO thingy in his fish tank!

Well it was interesting and certainly memorable with those opening and closing scenes! I loved Mulder's hair brushing back thing. He did that to Scully in The Red and The Black too, I think (one of those eps). As for it seeming like the same gesture CSM did, I think that was brought up when we discussed this ep on the Season 7 board. It did kind of have an eerie, 'like father like son' feel to it!

Well keep this episode in mind as you watch the rest of Season 7! ;-o)

And what was wrong with Mulder's Stonehenge Rocks cap? I thought it was adorable!

Btw Stardoe is changing internet service providers or soemthing like that so she can't be online much lately.

Hopefully she'll be back soon!
