Sorry if I'm setting things off again by joining late while you guys are drawing up your peace treaty. ;-)

But I don't think DD is chosing movie star roles at all. Most of his choices have been very quirky and definately not things that he would think would give him superstardom such as Kalifornia and Playing God. And he's stated in interviews that he really wanted to do Return to Me because of his friend Bonnie Hunt's involvement. I don't think he thought it would be a box office smash. I think he's honestly intersted in picking roles where he can expand and grow as an actor.

This is a guy who, as we all know from all his complaining! :-), gets bored doing the same thing. So I think he'll always want to do varying roles and some may be in big movies and some may not be. He may have aspirations to become a "mvoe star" but he also may realize deep down that he may never achieve the same level of success that he has with Fox Mulder. Not many actors get more than one great, defining role in their careers. Unless they're Harrison Ford! (Han Solo AND Indiana Jones).
