I'm not exactly jumping up and down in joy. I was quite unhappy with the way the MSR was dealt with in S6. Part of the problem was that too many eps dealt primarily with the MSR, the X-File itself became less and less important, and so did the story. I've always felt that TXF needs all three ingredients (in approximately equal quantities). Character development is a must IMHO, but so is a good story. Furthermore, TXF is a show about conspiricies, UFO's, and the paranormal in the first place, and not a soap, or a show about human relationships. (No offense intended) The fact that it *does* manage to combine aspects of science fiction with well defined characters and character development makes it unique - and also the reason I like it so much. If TPTB were even remotely interested in hearing my opinion, I'd *beg* them to leave all aspects of the show intact, assuming there will be another season.

I guess that I could live with more focus on the MSR, provided that it's done in such a way that it fits in naturally with the rest of the show. Some examples I did like: the hallway scene (FTF), the sunflower seed scene (Dreamland I/II), the kiss and "I love you" in Triangle, and the baseball lesson in The Unnatural. (Yes Det, I did change my mind about Triangle! Well, sort of anyway... ;o) ) What I don't like is all those slamming the MSR in your face bits that went on last year (S6). I don't like 'outsiders' giving their opinion of the MSR (Rain King, HTGSC, etc.). It's so 'forced', if you know what I mean, and - in some cases - a bit ridiculous too.

It would be a good thing if we had more continuity. Not that in one ep we get this terribly romantic scene, and in the next it's like nothing ever happened. I think there's were the true opportunity lies for more MSR.

One last thing... I'd love to see more eps by DD and GA! Did I mention I downloaded All Things? Part of it, anyway - hopefully that server will be up again soon!
