I also don't think the MSR has to be the focal point of the show. Nor do I think we should have to see extravagant displays of it every week either. But I think it can be incorporated into the story line naturally with subtle evidence that they are more than just friends.

I also agree that continuity has to be a factor and I too don't like the fact that much is forgotten in the next show that happened in the last one. The problem with this is the different writers. Too many new writers givng it a go and not being in tune with the show or the characters. I think that is why Bill Davis, DD and GA seem to have some shippiness in their shows because they are sick of the lack of continuity with the character development and the MSR. I think some writers forget that these two people have been living in eachothers pockets for 7 years now and I don't think they write them with this in mind. GA,DD and WBD do.

I think we could have more display of affection in line with some continuity of the relationship, but I don't agree with the totally MSR oriented shows even though I did enjoy RainKing and HTGSC just for what they were; whimsical easyviewing entertainment. I do miss the real hard core X-File shows and I'd love to see a new season full of these but with evidence of progressing MSR as well.
