Hi, Stardoe!
We miss you on the shippers board! Guess it'll be about August before you can rejoin us, huh? I don't feel I know enough about the mytharc elements of XF to address everything in your post, but I will touch on the ones I have ideas about.
1.) While it's probably not "normal F.B.I. practice" for agents to bet on the outcome of a case, it's probably not unheard of, either.
2.) Are they airing the eps out of order in Australia? You say "I thought M&S were sexually involved after "all things" but I don't think so now". Huh??? In America, "SUZ" aired before "all things". I don't think they were sexually involved during the events of "SUZ"; I do think they became lovers during "all things". But CC has just been sort of hinting at it; I do agree that we probably won't see a full-blown, no-doubt-about-it sex scene between Mulder and Scully until the next movie.
3.) I agree that Mulder's mother was not all that bad. At least she let Mulder live his own life (i.e. go off to college in England, take a job that involved a lot of traveling and late nights at the office, etc.) lots of women in her situation would have insisted that their only son live nearby, marry and provide them with grandchildren, etc. (Well, if she started making the demands for a daughter-in-law and grandchildren once Scully was on the scene, that would have been okay! But Mulder was already in his 30s when he first met Scully. What if Tina had started demanding he "settle down" during the Phoebe (Ugh!) or Fowley (Double UGH!) days?)
4.) Scully *IS* tiny compared to Mulder, isn't she? I think they usually shoot "XF" scenes to minimalize their height differential, but occasionally they make a point of it.
