I have some thoughts on this, I think all things was the first time. Mainly because of the couch *sigh* scene. Mulder and Scully were on the couch in a deep, intimate conversation. Scully falls asleep, and Mulder just pulls a blanket over her and leaves her to sleep, sitting up on his couch? If they were already lovers Mulder would have picked her up, or at least helped her to his bed. Would you want to face your lover the next day when they were bitchy from a headache/neckache from sleeping like that? Nope, I think if they had been doing the NP he would have done the gentlemanly thing and tucked her into his bed.
