"Next time a bright light gets shown around here, I'd better be able to see my reflection in those shoes!" KS barks at the officer. He quails at her tone, clicks his (scuffed) heels together, salutes, and quickly gets into his car and leaves.

KS is just about to talk to PC1 and AMB1 (no doubt to give them the benefit of her stellar motherly advice) when a Friend of the Library taps her on the shoulder.

"I just want to say," the elderly, white-haired woman warbles, "that I don't see the point of having paid for those brand new libraries and now we're closing them! I'm certainly not going to pay more taxes when I can just use the Internet."

KS blanches, then whaps the elderly woman repeatedly with a 'save our libraries' yard sign on the top of her dandelion-fluff head. The Mayor and Kande flinch with every strike. PC1 and AMB1 ignore her and bob their heads to the beat of the beating.

"KS! Sheesh," Kande looks aghast at the old woman who is now sprawled on the curb, covering her head. "She's got to be at least 90. You are 100 percent evil!"

"Naw," KS tosses the picket sign upright into a mound of dirt and dusts off her hands. "I'm 99.9 percent evil. I'm letting her live. But if I hear one more person talk about not supporting our library system," she shakes her head at the old woman who scuttles off to her green Mercury at the curb, "why...I'll turn into 100 percent."

"Alright, I hear you." Kande turns away from KS and then looks at PC1, does a double-take and looks harder. "Is that my coat?"

PC1 ignores Kande, who suddenly realizes PC1 is not only wearing her coat, but her Doc Martens, socks, jeans, favorite basketball shirt, and her Christmas scarf from the Mayor looped through the beltloops of the jeans to hold them up. "Were you in my closet?"

PC1 yawns, and texts something to AMB1, who giggles. KS whips out her cellphone and pushes a few buttons and also giggles.

"Surely PC1 doesn't text you too?" KM asks, a motherly jealousy arising in her heart.

"Of course she does," KS adds airily and tries to take a picture of Kande as she tackles PC1 and attempts to get some of her clothing back. After clicking several buttons, she gives up and simply starts beating Kande over the head with her phone.

Fortunately for PC1, she is wearing an entire set of her own clothes beneath Kande's. "Cool it, Auntie K or you'll get dental herpes."

Kande stops gathering her clothes to her chest and blinks. "I'll get what?"

KS and the Mayor are rolling with laughter. "I think she means genital herpes. Her health teacher talks too fast."
