Subject: KM settles into her larger-than-usual SUV

She glances at the two young boys she's borrowed for the occasion. OK, she didn't actually "borrow" them, she gave birth to them. But usually they are away at the saltmines, slaving away so that KM can live up to her usual standards.

"Mirror?" She snaps at the nearest and tallest one.

He glances at the checklist in his hand. "Check."

"Ostrich-lined, hot pink lounging robe complete with matching slippers?"

"Check."

"The complete set of X-Files videos and the second season of Battlestar Galactica in case Kande shows up unannounced?"

"Check."

"Fourteen bags of necessary clothing and another fourteen bags of also-necessary matching shoes and accessories?"

The boy barely manages to roll his eyes without getting caught. Behind him, the smaller boy struggles under a suitcase almost twice his size. "Check."

KM snuggles into the ample leather of the SUV. Stardoe had built the extra space back of the car, especially for trips such as these.

"OK then. Once you're done loading, we can go rough it in the wilderness for the week."
