...I totally think it was the "old fashioned" conception way...I just think the "old fashioned" way WORKED due to Mulder being an alien. In other words, I think that Scully was/is barren and the NP with Mulder(and only Mulder) allowed her to concieve...and basically THAT was what all of the hush-hush coded secrecy around the little tyke's parentage was ALL ABOUT. Basically, the FACT of William's birth confirmed for Mulder his own alien nature which he didn't want to accept but was forced to.
