I think John was a complicated person, and that is why the beatles became so great. I think John tried to conquer his demons headlong; and went to therapy,and was on a clear path to balance, and contentment. I remember that infamous 1972 Rolling Stone Interview when John blasted the Stones But I feel that at the time he felt slighted by both Mick, and Yoko, and Paul. This time frame would have been that start of Johns "Lost Weekend" where he went off the deep end. I think John had tried in vain to resurect the Beatles for a Truce, Reunion, but to no avail. He might have felt at the time that the Stones had taken over where the "Beatles" had left the building.
