I have read various books on John, Paul, George etc...and Yoko had a powerful hold over John. So strong, in fact, that recording sessions, business meetings/decisions etc... were set up by Yoko and not John. Even John's "lost weekend" was set up by Yoko as she discovered that John was cheating on her and was getting out of control with the partying and on was on another one of his binge outburst's. Once she lost that control then she sent John on his way out to LA with May Pang (who was working for John and Yoko at the time and Yoko knew they were having relations).

Have also read John and Paul were supposed to record together (even write a few songs) during the Double Fantasy recordings but Yoko "nixed" that as well. John wanted to record with Cheap Trick (who were really on a roll at that time) but again Yoko thought that was a bad idea. Various Beatles agreements (business side of things) were cancelled due to Yoko... it goes on and on... she controlled EVERYTHING for a long while in respect to John's career (her "career" as well since we all know she rode John's coattails when it came to any kind of career) after the Beatles. I will say she was a very astute businesswoman and built a fortune for the two.

I have read she was big time into astrology, horoscopes, card reading etc...and based her and John's entire day on what the "readings" said for that day. If it was a bad one...then they did not go out, or sign a contract etc... when asked about all of this after John was murdered Yoko admitted that not even her charts, card readings etc... could prevent certain things from happening.

But her powerful influence prevented John from truly making up with the other Beatles... George comes to mind as they never were able to come to peace before John was killed (Paul mentions this in the Anthology series). At least Paul and John were on good terms before the fatal shooting took place. But George never got the chance to make up with John... and he claimed he tried but Yoko would not even allow George and John to talk over the phone (apparently based on various accounts). Pretty sad when one person has that much control over another but John did not seem to mind. No doubt John truly loved Yoko and had 100% belief that she was doing things that were in their best interest.
