As much as this situation was very un-Aiden like, so was her reaction - she always had something to say about everything, and he loved that about her... But now, when he wanted more than anything for her to have something to say, she seemed to be essentially speechless. That kind of freaked him out a bit. This was why he usually carefully thought things through, maintained a laid-back, relaxed sort of style about everything, rather than just blurt things out randomly. However, his 'style' had also contributed substantially to the demise of their relationship, so maybe it was good that he was stepping out of his box, acting on a whim. It wasn't like he had any doubts about loving her, being completely in love with her, anyway. Still, her response - or lack of response - kind of had him panicking a bit about whether he was totally out of line or what. So, his jaw dropped a bit as he struggled to come up with something else to say, though his hand that had been resting on her knee did shift to cover her hand, and then ran up her arm a couple of inches to wrap gently around her wrist, and his head ducked a bit a little closer to her. "I know... I know. But it's not exactly a new feeling... I don't know what I was waiting for, and I wish I hadn't waited so long. I think I wish, at least..." He prodded her verbally, just gently, because he had totally just put himself out there - as he never had before, so she pointed out - and she had never reciprocated - as she also pointed out - and she still, to this moment, had yet to reciprocate - as he had just subtly pointed out. That was a little bit scary for him.
