Re: 23-24 SEASON -- yogi, Tue, January 23 2024, 14:25:52
How can there not be a mass exodus after this year? RW is a lame duck coach playing out the string, and hopefully not coming back. What a debacle this has become. We have 3 injured players we were allegedly counting on, none of whom have played. It is nearly February, and we know NOTHING about any of their injuries! They walk around but don’t play. No wonder we are averaging 500 fans per game. How not to run a D-1 basketball program. Pathetic.

Hold on. Bill Maher works with a budget from THE POWERS THAT BE. If he fires Reggie, whose contract has to be paid off, what is left to attract a new qualified coach? This is Canisius U., not DePaul in $$. Isn't Reggie's contract up at the end of this season? Then a fresh start with a President who knows more than a bit about D1 athletics and their importance in attracting students and growing the student population.

Not following you. How would firing Reggie and appointing one of the assistants as an interim for the rest of the year cost a penny?

The difference is DePaul fired coach Stubblefield in the middle of a 5 year contract. Reggie is in the last season of his 3 year extension. It's not so much a $$ issue as a public relations matter at CU. But DePaul has a lot more money to spend in firing the coach and buying out what is a much larger $$ contract.

Re: 23-24 SEASON -- The school would never do this to Reggie., Wed, January 24 2024, 11:21:15
They don't need the local media backlash. Let him finish the season.

Re: Carter Jackson - Game 14 and 15 -- left-coast griff, Tue, January 23 2024, 15:41:23
One of two good seasons with a good coach - one who at least makes a true effort to connect with students and the remaining alums who care, for a start - and the fans will be back. Not to the level of the old Aud days, but certainly enough to sell out the KAC on a consistent basis.
Dropping to DII is not an option, even bringing it up is a waste of bandwidth.

Re: Carter Jackson - Game 14 and 15 -- The fan base has been clamoring but nothing has happened., Thu, January 25 2024, 9:30:39
In many cases the request for a change didn't happen because the past administration was willing to do anything. It's not like we've all sat quiet.

Re: Carter Jackson - Game 14 and 15 -- Apathy, Wed, January 24 2024, 16:06:17
At this point , apathy is Reggie's best friend . If there was a robust fan base they would be clamoring for a change . Given the apathy , Reggie skates because he's operating in obscurity . Hopefully the administration learned their lesson in hiring unmotivated coaches in semi retirement .
