Subject: Bona posting

Postings on the Bona board say their players have stayed in Olean "all summer" to do "strength and conditioning work".Are they referring to 5 week Summer Session or June-August? If the latter, is that permitted by the NCAA?

Summer Conditioning Guidelines - Strength and conditioning coaches may design and conduct specific workout programs for student-athletes, provided such workouts are voluntary and conducted at the request of the student-athlete.

Together they can play whenever they want to. Just can't be organized or viewed by coaches.

I believe they are allowed 8 hours per week of workouts, and skill development while enrolled in summer school. Pick-up on their on their own time is standard. Almost all D1 schools, including CC do this and although it is listed as optional it is essentially mandatory. Think of when your Dad asked you to cut the grass, he wasn't asking.
