((I was raised on the Beatles, Queen...but not her...))

Up, up, up…Scarth watched Massath make her haphazard way up into the sky far above him, humming deep in his throat with admiration – and to let her know that whatever antics Abeoth pulled, there were still two blues on her tail, not just one. He wasn’t going to let himself get forgotten, was he? If it looked as if he had dropped out of the flight, she would have to choose the other blue! Neither, however, was he going to wear himself out. Leave that to the young late-comer – Scarth had more sense than to exhaust himself at this crucial stage by wasting precious energy on stupid tricks. Instead, he followed the green straight up, wings pulling fiercely on the air, chest burning with the lack of oxygen and his motion combined. The blue kept his eyes fixed firmly on Massath, never once deviating in loops or somersaults from his target, but he spun constantly as he moved, some of the drag lifted by the consistent twirling motion. He was kept from dizziness by something within him – a failsafe in the inner ear for dragons in flight, perhaps – and he spun upwards and upwards, towards Massath, ever nearer – doing his best, too, to completely ignore Abeoth. If he paid any attention to the younger male, he could loose time.

The roar and hiss of the ocean beneath him was enough to spur him on – the fainter the sound got, the closer he was to getting Massath – as long as she kept on her current course of direction, naturally. The winds were stronger up here than down over the land, and the lack of thermal breezes was a hardship on his now-tired wings, so he ceased his incessant twirling to fly straight upwards towards the prize, bugling loudly at the rush of adrenaline in his veins as his body kicked in to help him win the flight. The single-mindedness and determination that only a male dragon in flight is capable of: that was his driving force. He wanted Massath. He needed her. Every single nerve in his body was screaming to get her, and he permitted himself to indulge in a few somersaults when they levelled out above the clouds, just to show his joy in the flight. But he still kept on after the green, gaining on her with every stroke of his wings…

((I’m SO sorry this is so late…school preparation and work are getting on top of me…))
