Although startled at Loveth's abrupt turn, Raskith manages to refrain from letting his surprise cause him to pause in flight, or react too rashly and misjudge what she intends to do next, although the fact that his wingbeats only stutter rather than altering entirely is probably more due to his rider than to the dragon himself. S'kar is the thinker in these affairs. Hope rises for a moment in his breast as the green dashes in between the three males, and Raskith tries to snatch at her, despite the fact that even he would find this an unsatisfactorily short flight - it's instinct on his part, to try and catch the green at every chance he gets, especially when his rivals are so close around her. He pays them little heed, though, besides the awareness that all dragons have of other dragons in their flightspace, and a deep enthusiastic rumble rises from his chest as he turns as hastily as he can, trying to keep his spinning eyes on Loveth. It's unlikely that she brushed him deliberately, but Raskith isn't thinking of that improbability now, just thrilled with the fact that he'd felt the touch of her hide at all. Her laughter stings him, but only to greater efforts, because she wouldn't be worth the chase if she was meek or alarmed. Crooning out a gentle lovesong, the blue backwings away from Myth and Riorth so that they can't spoil his lift, pivots almost on a wingtip, and races after the glorious green who is taunting him so noisily as she leads the chase.

Surging upwards, wide wings beating hard in an attempt to catch up with the flight-powered green - for this moment in time, faster than Raskith or either of his fellows, and how maddening that is to him, even as it heats his blood with yet more desire! - the blue arrows upwards towards the clouds. His crooning ceases as he looses sight of her, and all his attention is focused on regaining sight of the lovely dragon he pursues. Riorth and Myth are barely worth his notice, and the only reason he doesn't simply ignore them altogether, for surely they can't beat such a splendid blue in this contest, is the fear that they'll somehow foul his flight. Stealing his thermals, catching him in their wakes, somehow through vile, despicable trickery managing to get between him and Loveth... he can't afford any of that. Plunging through the clouds, he can only think of seeing the green again when he emerges. It is to his great shock that Raskith finds she is no longer directly in front of him, and he levels out a moment to cast around. The sunlight glints off something to his left, the flash of silver-green caught and cornered by his violet-swirled, faceted eye, and with a bellow of delighted challenge Raskith turns again, once again caught up in the pursuit of the beautiful green. He refuses to lose Loveth, refuses to fall too far behind, refuses to end this flight without her in his claws. As he works to gain ground on the gap between them, the blue spares a moment for a swift barrel roll, screaming through the tight horizontal spin until he feels gravity begin to tug at him, at which point he levels out and snaps his wings wide again. Impressing this beauty with his skill and courage are important, but it's even more important not to fall behind.

/Raskith, remember, altitude is speed!/ On the ground, S'kar is struggling to keep some control over his dragon. It's difficult, to both sink into and share Raskith's mind and still maintain a firm grip on some kind of flight tactics. He's done this too often to fool himself into thinking he can hang on to any kind of complicated plans, but there are some basics - like the importance of altitude, and the need to pace oneself when it looks like the green is trying to stretch the flight out - that only the rider can remember during a flight. Raskith certainly isn't going to be keeping them in mind. Easing himself into his dragon's thoughts, slowly letting them join into one, S'kar tries to hold on to those basics. We can't fall behind, no, he thinks hazily, Raskith's thoughts bleeding into his. With an effort, he adds a detail of his own to their gestalt. But we can't throw all our energy away now. We have to pace ourselves. He can feel his dragon, reluctant but at some level acknowledging S'kar's greater wisdom, beginning to moderate how much effort he expends. Stamina is important, and they can't throw everything away at the beginning.

((Yawk! Sorry for holding things up - my sister just got home this past week, and we've been busy doing sisterly bonding stuff. And cleaning house. *shoots a glare at her mother* And, since I don't want to offend anyone, just remember that the whole, "Raskith is undeniably better than the others! Rawr!" thing is what Raskith and S'kar are thinking. Raskith in particular is a big arrogant dimglow, though I love him dearly. I'm not trying to say they're actually, necessarily better, just that THEY think they are. =^^;;=))
