Hick is a joke, a consistent, abject failure, who occasionally comes up with cameo innings like the one in Karachi, which, for some reason, justify his existence in the team for the next three years.

England now have a team that is high on confidence, having won three series in a row. The time has now come to bring a couple of youngsters into the team, whilst we are on a roll. This is an opportunity that we have not had for many years - to bring new players into a happy, confident team that isn't haunted by defeat.

Hick must be the one to go for a start. The replacement should be either Vikram Solanki or David Sales. The former is probably higher up the pecking order and deserves a chance. John Crawley would be a good pick if our priority is to win in Sri Lanka, but I think we should be looking further forward than that.

Salisbury is a little boy lost in a man's world. The saddest thing of all is that anybody who knows the first thing about cricket could have predicted that it would all end in tears.

It's a disgrace that Schofield was dropped in the first place - I remain to be convinced that he is going to be a Test Match quality bowler (England have rarely produced wrist spinners of any quality), but you've got to give the lad a chance.

So, Hick and Salisbury out, Solanki and Schofield in for mine.

What do people think the policy on Alec Stewart should be if, as reported, he is unwilling to tour next winter?
