I'm not particularly sure how this relates to Transformers... but...

The robots themselves are divided into two factions - one heroic, one evil. The good robots are controlled by three human children. There is a neutral character called Captain Tonbo who adjucates the competitions. Competitions vary between episodes.. that's kinda the gimmick of the series - a new competition per ep. They also play Janken (Japanese paper-scissors-rock) a lot. Invariably the baddies will do something nasty, and Kabutack - who is usually in his little chibi form, will transform into his more powerful form with his "Super Change!" command, as activated by his human counterpart. All the robots in Kabutack are able to transform like this, however, the baddies can do so on their own without the need of a voice command from humans.

Actually, they're more closely related to Power Rangers in Space, because that show was based on Denji Sentai Mega Ranger, which was aired on Sunday mornings just before Kabutack.

Btw, all non-TF related posts should be marked with "OT" (Off Topic) in the subject header.
