I've worked with a lot of kids that would have been considered dyslexic because of the way that they read (poorly, or resisted it, or couldn't learn phonics) and have concluded that one of the most overlooked issues is vision.

I'd estimate that about half of the 200 or so struggling readers I worked with over a decade had vision problems that were best addressed by vision therapy.

Over time I also began to wonder if the patterns we continue to see in dyslexic children might have a dietary cause as well, in particular, a vitamin D3 deficiency.

Eventually I put together a website where I discuss those two issues in depth. Here's a suggestion for starting points on each issue:

I'm quite certain of the importance of the vision information. The diet information is much more tentative, but is helpful in so many other ways it's worth considering for dyslexia as well. I just have no evidence or experience to back it up like I do with the vision side.
