Lance chuckled, "Is that all? Why didn't you say so earlier? I could blow up this building anytime now."
Lance pulled out a car alarm remote. He smiled, "I suggest we use my escape route before I push this button though. Come with me."
Lance waved for Zara to follow him to the bathroom. He motioned for her to enter the shower. She gave him a curious glance.
Lance smiled, "Don't worry. See this was my idea for a self cleaning shower stall. I figured if the walls and floors were replaced regularly, you'd never get ring around the drain." Lance shrugged shyly, "Unfortunetly my system worked a little too well. It just removes the shower stall entirely. Basically this will flush us out of the building."
Lance smiled and stepped into the shower stall with Zara. "Now this is going to be fun." Before Zara could reply Lance hit the red button next to the shower head. There was a swooshing sound as the floor of the stall gave wall, followed quickly by the rest of the stall, as well as Lance and Zara. While the stall flushed away, Lance pushed the car alarm button.
A loud metalic voice rang out throughout the building, "THE VIPER IS ARMED!"
Sensor systems throughout the house started warming up as the building alarm was activated. Lances original purpose was to create a house alarm that worked much like a car alarm. Unfortunetly Lance's design caused too much stress on the building through power usage, strutrial integrety, and sensor cabling that whenever the system was armed, the anouncement of the arming was enough to collapse most buildings.
So when the alarm turned on the building began to collapse, which in turn crushed and set off several of Lances other inventions, many of which were just a prayer away from blowing up anyway. The series of explosions that followed took out the building and half the block it was on. (Well within the evacuated area) The residents of the city hoped that they had finally gotten rid of their local mad scientist.
Lance and Zara washed out of the sewer system, still wrapped in the stall (so they wouldn't get dirty) about 5 miles out of town. The smoke and flames from the buildings demise could be seen quite clearly, even from this distance. Lance grabbed his head to stop it form spinning and looked at his handywork. "Wow, can I blow something up or can I blow something up?"
