Even the deepest violet optic was pulled from its meditation, caught in the surprising sincerity of Melln’s gaze. He wanted her to know something, to understand… Unable to place it in words, Nira regardless managed to feel it conveyed in the sense of sheltered peace that warmed her frail being as he prepared to unravel the puzzles, the symbols scrawled across the immense scroll. And then his words captivated her thoughts and her feelings. Even her body was taken in, swaying slightly to the rhythm of his voice as it poured into her conscious, layers upon layers of revelation and wonder. Nira understood naught what he spoke, but leaning back in the lounge with both eyes serenely shut, letting the waves of folklore and knowledge wrap her in a soothing blanket of rising and falling cadence, it didn’t really matter. Her imagination brought the foreign words to life, not pictures forming in her mind but colors; bright, shining strands of green twined with blue, red whirling in a dance with yellow, black clashing against white yet still mixing to form the Balance, and in the middle of this pulsing commotion, an image of the midnight sky that had always amazed Nira, just as this tale did now. Nira pictured herself twirling throughout this mess of color and light, as though through some sort of astral projection her soul had soared away from the dust-ridden library, towards an unknown place far, far away, somewhere that was only dreamed about. This place could have been the one that Melln read about, but that was highly unlikely. Even so, Nira didn’t seem to mind, wrapped up in the distant terra of her own creation, a place only accessible through the reading. Ah, how fervently she wished that it could never stop, this detachment that gave her wings! And the swirling colors danced and danced and danced…
