Subject: How are we still having competitions in this region?!?
We have this hanging over us, how can we just operate business as normal in this region? Where is the statement from the region saying they are aware and are working to ensure fair results? We have a school whose teacher was mentioned in those texts and who knows what else will be released? But yes hand over your registration fees and get up there and dance and just hope things are fair.

If CLRG/IDTAMA/IDTANA were serious about ensuring fairness and transparency, this would be an obvious first step while awaiting a thorough and independent investigation. I am all for competition right now. Let the judges sweat every score trying to get it right. Waiting until this blows over with no consequences won't help. I agree - no need to pause competitions. These kids are working very hard! Some are nearing the end of their competitive years. They’ve lost so much already because of the pandemic. This is a chance as parents to talk to our kids about handling adversity and unfair situations. Families have a lot of time, money and emotions invested in dance - there’s no need to take this activity away from those who love it and want to continue. Individuals can choose whether they continue to participate or not.

The cheating needs to stop. The last feis in Pittsburgh, there was a kid who got busted dancing in multiple comps for grades. From what I observed, she was a PC dancer, also competing in grades...looked like she was wearing another number for grades. Just shameful.

What is the point of dancing in a a different comp? Was she trying to get a placement for another student at her school?

Sorry, Jim Graven, the feis chair was notified and was seen speaking to the dancer and adults with her. We saw tears and then had to go to our comp. So it was addressed.

at least the part about the too small comps, all the PC comps in Pittsburgh both days had over 5 dancers, so they all counted

Please remember that the syllabus for each feis has instructions on how to report a discrepancy or concern. If it’s not brought to the feis chair’s attention at the time, they cannot address it.
