  Clarification: the correct Plural for the Irish Word "Feis" is Feiseanna,however many people refer to multiple feiseanna as "feishes"-either is acceptable in my book.
  We do our best to rotate adjudicators,however if there are only 3 adjudicators,and you are competing in 6/7 competitions,we cant possibly cater to your needs of only having a different adj/dance. Kathy and I work together in efforts to move the adjs-I do my best to move them at the given time,however its not an easy job being a people mover and things dont go always as planned. We do however try to stick to the given (internal) plan,and are always striving to improve.We also are always in need of Volunteers and would welcome anyone from any dance school,local or out of town,who would be willing to help us in any way.Please be aware that Volunteering is not an easy task,and therefore its difficult to find "Victims" who are willing to brave the "elements" of exposure at a Feis.We would however welcome any assistance,keeping in mind that its a job for life with no firings,limited fringe benefits and a poor pension plan.

    • At any feis, it's rare to get a new AD for each dance. Best case is a change between soft & hard. At a holiday feis, we should give comm. the benefit of the doubt. This crew run several feis a year quite well. • Pittburgh Winterfeis -- JG, 22:56:18 12/01/09 Tue
  The Pittsburgh Winter Feis will start with the regular feis on time at 9AM on Saturday Jan 2 with figures and ceilis on 3 or 4 stages depending on the total number of registered dancers for that day. Once the Figures/ceilis are completed we will begin with beginners-they will be finished fairly quickly. Following this procedure,dancers will compete on the different stages by age(for the most part you,as a dancer will be on the one stage and we will rotate the adjudicators) Naturally you might be competing for a short period of time or an extended time-just the luck of the schedule. We will post the stage assignmentts about one week before the feis. We cannot and will not state a specific time for any one particular dance to begin. You can reest assured,however, that we will make every effort to move the feis as quickly as possible and there complete the process hopefully before 4PM.We had very few complaints at our last feis at Halloween and it is essentially the same procedure as this next one-ask your friends who have competed previously in our 2 day feiseanna for clarification.

  The Adjudicators for the feis so far are :
  Niall O Leary -Ireland and NY,Kathy Spencer Revis - NY,and Kerry Kelly Oster -NY.
  The Regular Feis will be on Sat Jan 2 and PC/C on Sun Jan 3
  We are hopeful that we will have a similar number of competitors as our last feis and we will have the same vendors,including the Coin Lady.We might add a few new ones also.Any questions and/or suggestions please email kayaks201@verizon.net

  maybe everyone should start with promoting good sportsmanship.
  It is sad that dancers end up in tears- and I am not talking dancers who don't place. Dancer's crying is bad enough, someone has to win and someone lose =but to cry after you recall and then place for worlds is just too much. This was the case at least on Sat and Sun.
  These may be very good dancers but poor competitors who exibit poor sportsmanship.

  • While I understand what you are saying, I also feel kids have the right to be frustrated with their own performance.   • I couldn't believe all the kids in tears. I told my dd if she ever did that, that would be the last time she competed. She understands there is more to life than ID and so do I thankfully. • Just an FYI. If you are an AOL user and you go on the NorthCoast Feis website, the links for registration on Feisworx are not showing up. No idea why, they show up fine if I use Firefox.
