Subject: It seems there are a lot of questions about how qualifiers will work this year. I saw this post--https://www.voy.com/60473/345994.html--over on the Main ID board about Worlds qualifications and thought people might find it interesting. I have cut and pasted the message into the text of this post.

Subject: NAIDC & Worlds inside
In reply to: * 's message, "With NA regionals on the verge of being cancelled what happens with NAIDC? Does 2019 qualification carry over ?" on 13:20:03 08/06/20 Thu

I think when they cancelled NAIDC they said that 2019 qualifications for 2020 would carry over to 2021.

As for Worlds, when people were talking about last year's U9s being told they qualified for 2021 Worlds based on results for last year's (2019) Os, I dug around a little on the FB pages of schools in our region who would have a qualifier. Sure enough, found one school congratulating its dancers (and rightly so; the dancers were amazing!) and someone asked what the deal was.

In response, the school posted an image of what appear to be guidelines for 2021 Worlds qualifications. I can't cut and paste and I don't want to link to the school because I fear Voy trolls, so I'll copy it as best I can.

(I make no claim to authenticity; but as a school posted it in response to a question about U9 qualifiers to a parent at it's own school, it seems it would be legitimate.)

NEW FOR 2021:

Significant Changes to the 2021 qualifying criteria:

a. Where the 2020 Regional Primary Qualifying proceeds:

* Qualifying requirements and ratios remain unchanged. In addition, any dancer that qualified in 2019 and does not qualify at the 2020 event, can use their 2019 qualification to attend Worlds as they enter and compete at their 2020 Primary Oireachtas.

* Where on medical grounds, including explicit Covid19 restrictions imposed on a dancer or a dancer's immediate family, a dancer is unable to attend the 2020 Regional Oireachtas, the normal medical appeal should be submitted within the appropriate timelines. Such appeals will only be considered where a dancer has entered the Oireachtas.

* It should be noted that World Medalists from 2019 were already "stepped" over at primary and secondary qualifying events in 2019 and they should not be "stepped" over at the 2020 Regional Oireachtas as this would lead to their place being filled three times.

* Please note that where a 2020 Regional Oireachtas proceeds, there is not substitution of 2019 qualifiers unable to attend Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2021.

b. Where the 2020 Primary Qualifying does not proceed:

* Any dancer that was entitled to dance Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2020 will be entitled to dance at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2021.

* In addition, in recognition of the delay between qualifying and the actual World Championships, and to allow full representation at Regional level, qualifiers may be substituted ONCE where the original qualifier is unable to attend Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2021.

* It should be noted that where a substitution occurs, then the place can only be cascaded to the first next in line dancer. Should this dancer also be unable to attend then the place cannot be cascaded down any further.

c. Recognition of Qualification status for Dancers born in 2010

* Although this year group was not recognised as having qualifed in 2019 as they were only Under 9, the same provision outlined in (a) and (b) above apply. Rankings and qualifying places from 2019 have been received and verified.

* Regional directors/chairpeople will be able to share this information with teachers from within their region.

[> I think it's important to note that the Oireachtas is not going to just be a "big feis" if any other regions cancel, as some people rumored. Each Oireachtas is an independent qualifier, separate from the others. -- To lay that to rest., 11:19:55 08/24/20 Mon (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)
