Subject: Pittsburgh feisanna next weekend
There are at least a dozen dancers just in PC and OC competing at Drake this weekend in Atlanta that are also on the registration list for Pittsburgh next weekend. Georgia is on the 2 week quarantine advisory currently in Pennsylvania and the dancers and families will not have time to complete that quarantine restriction. How will this be handled?

So none atl dancers? Hmm interesting question -- No name, 20:32:30 09/19/20 Sat (NoHost/185.195.237.196)
I would assume any dancers from quarantine list would be removed but you present a situation I didn't even think of. This feis also has almost 500 dancers registered so..

Testing negative won’t suffice -- No name, 21:56:11 09/19/20 Sat (d4-50-169-34.try.wideopenwest.com/50.4.34.169)
That just means you are negative at that moment. Under the FAQs on PA’s COVID site it specifically says a negative test doesn’t mean the quarantine isn’t needed.

Yes a negative test will suffice as it's an advisory not mandated. Why are people concerning themselves with this? If you are sick stay home. If you are wearing a mask, following protocol while at Feis and have produced a negative test result whose business is it? -- Feis on, 12:52:55 09/20/20 Sun (pool-100-0-60-128.bstnma.fios.verizon.net/100.0.60.128)

One school and Irish Dance Magazine has been posting pics of said dancers on Instagram and Facebook so they are clearly not going to be able to abide by the 2 week quarantine advisory. This is the very thing that could get a large event shut down. We all need to do our part to stay open.

PA -- Mk, 08:45:33 09/21/20 Mon (cpe-98-31-29-38.columbus.res.rr.com/98.31.29.38)
PA guidelines are exactly that. A recommendation not a requirement. Feis stated early on that they were worried it could become a requirement but it has not and the numbers are actually down since then especially in the states you are concerned about. The southern region feises kept groups extremely small with single age groups, timed entries, temperature checks, enforced distancing, dancers on their own side of a stage and masks required so actually the double age groups in Pittsburgh are much larger. Kids have already been playing team sports, families have gone on vacations or business travel, many kids are back in school in person, and college students who have been living on campus are attending the Feis as well. Nothing is risk free but as an outdoor venue, as long as people wear masks, stay distanced ,don’t come if symptomatic, and are outside it should be fine.

The school that most of these dancers are from that were at Drake Feis, does it really surprise any of us in the Mid-America region that they would think this recommendation doesn't apply to them? I'm not surprised at all.

So you’re attacking one school even though when inquiries were made, nobody was told they could not register. it was strictly a recommendation to review by PA as well as the possibility that as we got closer it could become a requirement which of course it didn’t happen since the numbers came down. There are other schools that were there as well as dancers who are actually from those regions that are attending as well -- No name, 13:30:22 09/21/20 Mon (cpe-98-31-29-38.columbus.res.rr.com/98.31.29.38)

It was said on the feis fb page from before entries opened that if you lived in one of those states or were going to be in one of the states you were asked not to register. I'm not sure where the confusion is. It makes no difference if it's a state "rule" or just a "recommendation." The feis asked people in these situations not to register, plain and simple. -- ., 19:08:26 09/21/20 Mon (71-50-44-71.crls.centurylink.net/71.50.44.71)

Exactly. It seems pretty unfair a few days before and those same people who aren’t on Facebook are probably going to show up anyway which is unfair to those of us who are now going to eat the registration cost and stay at home due to a request based on a recommendation/guideline. It would be really nice if they offered a credit towards a future Feis or a registration fee returned to those who fit into that category -- No name, 13:01:15 09/22/20 Tue (cpe-98-31-29-38.columbus.res.rr.com/98.31.29.38)

It is clearly stated in the syllabus and on the waiver you sign -- No name, 13:21:04 09/22/20 Tue (cpe-173-88-107-81.columbus.res.rr.com/173.88.107.81)
The Syllabus and waiver both state very clearly that the feis requests you do not attend the feis if you have been in or live in one of the states on the DOH list. Out of respect for the hard work these people have done for the feis to happen, and for the future possibilities of feisianna, people should just adheare to the requests. To do otherwise is disrepectful to the feis holders and to the irish dance community as a whole.

When it comes down to it, a recommendation is a recommendation, NOT a mandate. I know this is a pretty divisive issue, but in this instance, it is what it is, no matter what you may want or not want it to be. Recommendations are GOOD, because many will give them serious consideration, and will act accordingly. Some won't heed the recommendation, but they aren't doing anything wrong, no matter how you spin it.
It is my sincerest wish that people stop throwing stones, casting blame, and passing judgement. Just do the best you can, let others do the same, and accept the fact that not everyone will be on the same page as you. Other people's choices only affect you if you let it happen. If this is truly a serious concern, you have the power to choose not to attend. A recommendation is NOT a mandate, and wishing it to be one does not necessarily make it one.

There's going to be nearly 1,000 people coming to this feis, we worried about a social media gotcha of a dozen? What have the rest been doing in the last two weeks? Dr Fauci says the main culprits are dining out, bars/coffee shops & gyms. Is there going to be a questionnaire at registration?
