Subject: Please Explain

Can you please tell me why the PRESIDENT OF THE NAFC, an organization who’s job it is to protect our dancers, can run a feis where children are dancing in concrete?????

[> Why don’t you ask the president of the NAFC instead of trying to start drama here. I don’t believe there is any rule prohibiting using concrete for stages and I suspect the feis committee is just tying to do the best they can. -- Tell me about the feiseanna you run., 14:44:28 09/27/20 Sun (65-128-160-53.mpls.qwest.net/65.128.160.53)

I do run a feis and I would like to know why WE must adhere to all the rules and some do not. He is the PRESIDENT of that organization and I'd like SOMEONE from that organization to address this.

Are you talking about competition stages or dancers choosing to warm up on concrete?

[> I am not sure where you saw children dancing on concrete other than maybe to warm up. All 5 stages were built up wood stages with Marley covering. Was there both days. -- perplexed, 17:32:37 09/27/20 Sun (pool-173-71-180-190.pitbpa.fios.verizon.net/173.71.180.190)

[> [> I'm guessing it's the same complainer from yesterday. The stages were all fine and most definitely compliant. If a dancer wanted to warm up on concrete, that's up to the dancer and his/her parents. This is not a "president of the NAFC" issue. This is such a petty complaint, especially given they are fortunate a committee was able to make TWO feises happen after no feises since February/March! -- Sour grapes maybe?, 18:21:25 09/27/20 Sun (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)

[> The stages were all wood stages built on wood framework and covered with marley. They are identical to the ones you find at indoor feises. If your dancer was warming up on concrete, that's on you & it's nervy of you to blame the chair! These Feises had to be held outdoors or not at all and were typical outdoor feises. You should be GRATEFUL your child got to do a Feis this weekend after MONTHS of zero opportunities! -- Some people!, 20:09:43 09/27/20 Sun (ue.tmodns.net/172.58.203.114)

[> You do realize hotel ballrooms are usually concrete with carpet on top? -- No name, 21:04:34 09/27/20 Sun (d4-50-169-34.try.wideopenwest.com/50.4.34.169)

That’s why stages are built on top of them. And convention centers? The IX center (North Coast), Ohio Expo Center (Buckeye State), Queen City (Duke Energy Center), Cincinnati Feis (Northern Ky Convention Center), to name a few are all feis venues that have concrete floors to my recollection. All of these feisanna build wooden stages and some use Marley over the wood, some do not. The original poster is woefully ignorant, has an axe to grind, or both.
There was no problem with the safety of that venue this weekend with the exception of parents who brought their dancers that were in banned states within the last 14 days and that was said parents ignoring a Pennsylvania state travel advisory AND several pleas from Feis organizers not to come. They were the only ones not looking out for the safety of others.

[> [> None of them were. The OP is complaining because their dancer warmed up on cement which really shouldn't be an issue. Every. Stage. Was. Compliant. -- Karens will be Karens, 11:34:52 09/28/20 Mon (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)

lack of comments and possibly dozing off...

[> [> Alas, some judges provide comments and some don't. The judges aren't required to provide comments, but it sure is nice when they do. Which judge appeared to be dozing off? If that was happening, the chairs should know. -- Definitely let them know, 17:10:51 09/28/20 Mon (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)

[> All stages were wood with marley or shower pan liner on them . of course the floor under the stage was concrete but so are the hotel ballroom floors. A practice stage could have been set up but some would complain it was a social distancing issue that prevented that from happening. Very well run. Lots of much appreciated hard work to the crew. -- No name, 10:04:20 09/29/20 Tue (dynamic-acs-24-101-225-176.zoominternet.net/24.101.225.176)

[> [> A practice stage wouldn't have been practical. Someone would have had to have been posted to ensure only one or two dancers at a time and the Karens would have been complaining their dancers weren't able to get a turn on the stage. These people will always find something to complain about, but never offer any praise for the things that were done right. These were well run feises. Kuddos to the team that made them happen. -- Thank you Pittsburgh Feis Committee!, 13:22:50 09/29/20 Tue (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)
