Hey, I really disagree with the fact that you think Lenny Bruce, Bill Hicks, and Dave Chappelle are overrated.

I think because comedy is so advanced and fresh now that some peope can not appreciate what Lenny Bruce has done to revolutionize the art. He made way for the greats such as George Carlin and Richard Pryor (Both of whom noted him as an inspiration to them)

If you write for stand up comedy then you probably understand how hard it is to come up with original, fresh ideas for material. One thing that made Bill Hicks such a great was that his material was always completely different from what everyone else was doing, he tackled sensitive topics in ways most comedians couldn't dream of.

Dave Chappelle's comedy is love-him-or-hate-him. I think since he is a fresh, funny mix of modern comedy and old school comedy (Richard Pryor, Red Foxx) I can understand why some people wouldn't like him but I think he's hilarious

I respect your opinion, I just thought you should know why some people rate these comedians so high
