Subject: A new player leapt into the fray now...
In reply to: Rana 's message, ""Get ye BACK Paleguard!!"" on 16:53:14 11/28/01 Wed

...startling both Rana and the gathered contingent of Paleguard. His reflective spell held against the assualt, and the white-furred mass that leapt seemingly from nowhere careened off it in a blinding flash. Though the Manarian wizard maintained his balance, crucial to those who depended upon him as a mystical anchor, the urge to move was nearly overwhelming. The Paleguard, meanwhile, scattered as the beast toppled amid their ranks. Braddock muttered a mild swear and Fifth yelped. Only Cortex stepped aside gracefully, concealed eyes studying this new development, unshared thoughts considering the familiarity of the new arrival.

It stood roughly seven feet tall and four feet wide, a bulky, muscular figure. Set against the bleached landscape and raging blizzard, it's white hide rendered it effectively invisible save for a pair of blazing red eyes. These eyes burned with an unspoken hatred as it crouched among them, darting from figure to figure, as the beast, breathing heavily, remained down. It opened its gaping maw as though to speak, for amount another flash of red marking its location, then seemed to reconsider. The crimson eyes closed slowly now even as the Paleguard readied an attack. It was Cortex who stepped forward first into the space where the monster had been, finding it gone. The four had surrounded it in close proximity and it was unlikely that something so large could have slipped past without someone noticing. And yet it was gone now, as silently as it had arrived, leaving no clue as to where it came from and, more chillingly, what it in fact had been.

Suddenly, the barren desolate world seemed just a little bit smaller, and a little less unpopulated...
