Hi,

i hope that i get counted as one of the more or less active GMs :-)
However I still have objections to this. Let me explain.

>But, in my defence, I did write game reports
>for two seasons (for which no-one but Mario and Paul
>ever seemed grateful).

Well I liked them too, but this seems to be the problem also
if there is written something most of the time there is
no feed-back about it.

I.e. I wondered allready if writing whispers is necessary
at all, as I got only very few coments at all. So maybe the
first point is that writers often do not feel appreciated
their work. Like i never did write you, Andrew, that i liked
the gamereports very much, sorry.

Sorry also to JFF for missing his article. As desperated I
am about any bit of text i can get, i surely would liked to
include it in the whispers. if i did not then i am terrible
sorry. Maybe the email got erased to early.

>1. the home GM in every game has to write a game

>If the reports are biased, all the better!

No good idea. You penalize teams for a GMs personal activity. Best exampel a GM does nothing, the teams get
worse a lot (almost no draft picks etc.) and then the GM
quits. The team stays penalized. Also we all have a privat
life that may be different and is giving us different time.
Then do not forget that not every non-native english reader
is also a good english writer.

>2. Go back to one game every two weeks to give GMs a
>chance to write 'press releases' and make more trades
>and
>roster changes. Not sure about this one!

No, but the 1 game a week is definitely good for the
league. It speeds up the season and so far this season
it has not prevented us from making the trades or changes.
I agree that it prevents from writing many reports (i do
my whispers only ever second week, more or less ;-)
But after all the games are the main reason for the FWL
not the articles.

>3. A supplementary draft in which only the more active
>GMs can take part.

I agree with Jason, this would benefit especially the
good teams with active GMs. Also how would you want to
rate this ?
Paul is definitely the most active of us all, will he get
the first round all alone ?
What is with hidden activity like private websites or
say for exampel providing the CWL ?
Is one article each season enough to be called active ?

And then how would you do the suplementary draft ?
After the normal ? then the players are worth nothing.
Or before ? Then you get too good players.

>I know that being active in the league takes time, and
>we
>all have others to do (I hope), but the league runs the
>risk of stagnating if people start losing interest.

I agree and tried to make it easier for other GMs, you
dont have to write longt articles, just send me a little
few lines and i add it to the whispers. I never wanted it
to be an 'all-me' kind of article.

Also dont forget if you force the GMs to be active, we may
also loose GMs that just want/can not be as active and then
feel not treated well. But else they may be very active
and good GMs.

I appreciate not only the concern about the league but also
that you put some thought into it. But unfortunately it
will not work that way, or at least not without creating
more new problems.

A forced participation is never good i think.
But try to convince me otherwise ;-)

bye and tschuess,
Marco

PS: sorry for mispellings but i had no time to read over
this for spellcheking
