...since you guys are the only ones I know who will even consider these spoilers:

1 had a lot to do with DMW (dark magic willow)
2 they (LBs) have a lot of power
3 we will think they are evil
4 we will think X is under their thrall
5 Spike will ramble about them
6 you can't call them what they are to their faces

That last clue led me to VDs, because Hallie wanted to be called a "justice demon", not a VD. Plus, you could say that 1, 2, and 3 also apply. And Xander is supposed to still be in love with Anya, a VD, in Ep 5; and Anya fights Buffy in Ep 5. However, "vengeance" is a bad thing in Buffyverse. (I could stretch Chaos to being ambiguous, but not Vengeance). And VDs don't have a "thrall" for Xander to be under. Right? (Note how unsure I am about this :) )

Other "plurals" that come to mind:

-- CoW (yes, I think they're eeeevill :) but they had nothing to do with DMW in any form; they don't seem that mighty (except re: manpower and magic usage; it's not like they weild real "Power" that we've seen). And while I think they're evil, you can certainly call them "Watchers" to their faces. So strike CoW?

-- Coven. Well, they are powerful, and could be seen as related to DMW. And don't call them witches! Plus, I could see the Scoobs being wary of the Coven. However, Xander's not in touch with the Coven directly, AFAIK. And more importantly, the Coven doesn't trust Willow yet; why would they trust her best friend if he has some power from her?

-- Initiative-in-current-form. Regardless of Xander's apparent fondness of military/Riley/etc, and his obvious distaste of vampires and demons, I doubt Xander would opt to go "Hostile-hunting" when, in Ep 5, he's wanting Anya back. Plus, Military Group wouldn't fit in with DMW, or scare the Scoobs, or any of the requirements.

Hmm... I'm pretty much stuck between VDs and Coven. AARGH! Help?
