] Date Posted: 21:42:18 07/28/01 Sat I have some questions for any who wish to respond. Does your city require partitions in the cabs? If so, do you service folks, with a partition, that you would not service without one? Also, I am compiling a list of slain or injured cab drivers. If you have any information that I can use drop me a line. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 00:16:41 07/30/01 Mon We don't require them here in British Columbia, and in most Canadian cities, except for MAYBE Toronto and Montreal, they are required. I'm very curious about the feedback on that as well. Check out the Taxi-L murders in the links section, you'll find updated lists. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 03:21:31 08/13/01 Mon Taxi-L is a fantasticsite, however the level of tolerance for opinions regarding taxi partition requirement viability is absurdly low. They tossed me off their forum because I maintained the opinion that partitions have a 100% failure rate. I have lots of evidence backing that fact and the NYTLC backs that opinion by saying they have no knowledge of a partition ever thwarting an assault. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 07:36:21 08/13/01 Mon Well, no one, and I mean NO ONE will be kicked off this forum for their expressed views or opinions. With of course the one exception, hate literature. Racism has no place with such a diversified lifestyle, job, whathaveyou, of cabdriving. I agree, Taxi L is an amazing site, except I'm still waiting for a reply from them in linking up to so, I don't think they are as up to date as Hack. I will be posting more of Midnight evidence on the partition issue, and I do hope that their is some debate on the issue. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Statistically, all assualts and murders in NYC dropped something like 83% in the first year!!! Prior to that, drivers were dying at about one a month. Check out taxi-l.org's article called "the effectiveness of taxicab shield 'the baltimore case'. I think your conclusion is rather idiotic based on all the available information out there. Date Posted: 02:10:45 02/02/09 Mon Al; You appear to have much invested in the belief that partitions are a good idea. I am sure you are mistaken. I have spoken with Dr. Stone, the author of the Baltimore Study mentioned by you. He is a criminal in my opinion. He KNOWS his stats show more murders. YOU should scrutinize the report... the data is in there, but the study is so amazingly flawed it merits no respect. In short... his superficiality and devotion to preconceived notions that are not backed up by his own data is evident in his comment (in the report) that taxi partitions are "intuitively effective". I guess he means that he THINKS they should work... so concluding that they DO, is proper. Incidentally... I only mentioned my temporary exclusion from the Taxi-L Forum to offer an indication of how counter-intuitive it feels, to even experienced cab drivers, to consider that partition mandates might be a horrible way to address a horrible problem, which yields horrible results. Thank you for your interest. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
