I've always said that OSI does things with one step leading to another.

1. Get us used to not having to refresh houses;

2. Announce 1 house per account if you want to keep auto refresh;

3. Get rid of powerhour and sneak in the unannounced cap for stat gains of 6 per day, and don't tell us how to gain under skill or stats under the new GGS;

4. Open a new shard and announce Advanced Character purchase (with high skills and full stats. Remember? Stats are near impossible to gain at this point) all on the say day. And oh yeah, add in the fact that only NEW accounts can access the shard for the first 6 weeks. This causes mass rush to buy advanced characters (Tamers), to farm gold on a new shard and be the first to place large houses on eBay for huge amounts of gold within 12 hours of shard opening, and making it appear as though Advanced character purchase was a huge success;

5. Make false promises to fix all kinds of bugs in the next publish...which turns out to be an entire expansion that turns UO upside down on it's ear into some hybrid game; a cross between Diablo/EQ/UO;

6. Release a supposed beta tested expansion, that turns out it's riddled with bugs; turns out said expansion's beta test comprised itself of 7 beta tester!

7. Close down UO.com boards and make Stratics the official boards for Ultima Online, because according to Cynthe, we in North America are too vocal when it comes to complaining. I guess they didn't like us complaining about shoddy products and game mechanics; I guess we were supposed to fall to our knees and thank them for allowing us to spend our hard earned money on substandard services and products.

8. Announce the "bring a buddy to UO" for 3 months, program and get a luck necklace, free month and a chance to win a large house.

9. Once the contest entry date closes, announce a $3.00 hike in monthly fees, unless you prepay in advance for 6 months.

One thing to remember, it's in OSI's ToS that they don't provide refunds. So if you prepay and decide to quit, you won't be getting a refund of money on your unused play time.

Outraged? I would be if it weren't so darn predictable on the part of OSI. Will I be closing an account? YEP! I have one that I was sitting on witing for 3 months to pass so I could pick 3 ethereals. I don't need an ethereal that badly. I also have an account holding my Catskills Moonglow house, a house that was my very first one in game and that I'm really super attached to. But not so attached that I am not considering selling it, transfering my Atlantic house to that account, and closing the one I created for the bring a buddy to uo promotion.

I live in Canada. It was costing me $16 per month to play at $9.99. $12.99 will bring my monthly cost to $21.70 per month. I don't like UO enough to pay $43.40 for 2 accounts or $56.10 for 3 accounts. I'd rather give that money to homeless people, or put it in my bank towards something important.

I'm just not happy with the direction UO is going. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. I can tell you that the only thing keeping me in game is the fact that I enjoy all of your company a great deal. Had it not been for the friend who broght me over to Atlantic, and my meeting Nathan from UO.com boards, I'd have closed my accounts December 31, 2002. I can say it's the people I know that keep me playing, not the game itself as I'm pretty apathetic about the game in general. I think I'd have just as much fun with you all if were were in an IRC room as I do when we are all in UO together.

The decreased customer service, the obvious lack of caring about what the customer has to say, increased fees... It's a real let down of the game that I had come to know and love, named Ultima Online.

I've been looking at player run free shards lately. This one looks interesting and I know several who have been playing it off and on for a couple years now. They all liked it alot:

http://www.roleplayworlds.com/arcodia/arclib/

Their library of what their shard offers is amazing. It's really tempting.

I've also been tossing around making my own shard again. It was something my ex b/f and I were working on before we broke up. I was in charge of world building and spawning. It's not hard, just alot of work.

But in the meantime until I decide, I'll be keeping my one main account open.

Anyone know how much a small Trammel tower on the water's edge, one screen from the Cotton field in Moonglow sells for?
