wwolfe will eventually watch it if I have to personally drag XW out to LA.

I also must mention Forbidden Planet for it's fantastic visual elements (I mean "fantastic" in the literal sense.) Also, it's one of the best adaptions of Shakespeare ever.

Silent Running is a stark, metaphorical re-telling of "Big Yellow Taxi".

Blade Runner has set the tone for SF movies over the last 20+ years. Nothing has been more influential. Period.

And I can watch "Back to the Future" any time they show it on TBS. I think that trilogy holds up really well. Some day I want to watch all three in a row on DVD. (My only regret will be that there's no way to use CGI to magically replace the actress who played Michael J. Fox's girlfriend in the first movie with Elisabeth Shue - it's always weird when the actresses change for no apparent reason.)

but i read somewhere that the actress who played his girlfriend in the first(i can't recall her name) couldn't reprise the role in the sequal due to some sort of health issues...

i agree, watching all 3 in a row would make for a pretty entertaining evening...
