wwolfe will eventually watch it if I have to personally drag XW out to LA.

I also must mention Forbidden Planet for it's fantastic visual elements (I mean "fantastic" in the literal sense.) Also, it's one of the best adaptions of Shakespeare ever.

Silent Running is a stark, metaphorical re-telling of "Big Yellow Taxi".

Blade Runner has set the tone for SF movies over the last 20+ years. Nothing has been more influential. Period.
