such a nice tradition as "Thanks Giving" here...ok ok ok, I know it's a USA thing, but it's just such a nice 'idea'. I think the whole world could do with something as wonderful as "Thanks Giving".
I'm totally jealous of all of you.

Bubba Ho-tep -- Maye, 00:09:30 12/03/03 Wed (66.188.131.119)
Extremely deranged, but funny in that classic B-movie sort of way.
My family abandoned me for the holiday, going to visit my grandparents. I, now gainfully employed, had to work and could not travel. I still managed to make dinner with my boyfriend's family though, so I still got to stuff my face with turkey and all the trimmings....and watch the Packers lose miserably. Ah well.

I've seen that! -- wwolfe, 01:24:04 12/03/03 Wed (68.69.234.134)
Delirium and I went with Mo when he was out here recently. I liked it a lot. Bruce Campbell was a great Elvis and I enjoyed that Ossie Davis always acted like he absolutely was JFK, rather than winking at it. And you're right - it was classic B-movie fun.

If you want to read a great book, Bruce Cambell's autobiography is hilarious. "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-movie Actor". It has all these great insights into film-making, and talks a lot about his relationship with these same 5 guys he's been friends with forever- they made the Evil Dead movies, Xena and Hercules, etc. One of them is Sam Raimi, now of Spider-man fame. Anyways, it's a great read.

I have a signed copy of that book -- Kuzibah, 23:45:36 12/03/03 Wed (208.59.89.53)
It's a fun account of being a no-name working actor, and all the different jobs he's had. Very entertaining reading.

Arrgh! It STILL hasn't gotten to Philly! *waiting for 18 months* -- Grim ,_,_), 10:00:36 12/03/03 Wed (66.95.229.84)
Since Bruce mentioned the film at Horrorfind '02 I've wanted to see it. But for some deranged reason it just hasn't made it here yet.

It only played in LA in September, so it could still wend its way to Philly. If not, you definitely should rent it if and when you see it for rent on DVD. It's honestly one of the more touching and sympathetic depictions of late-period Elvis, besides being a fun sci-fi story.

The rumour is that there are only like 2 prints of the movie, and they are slowly touring the US....much like Egyptian mummy tours through museums. It was in Chicago a few weeks ago, then came here. It's only in one theater, for like 6 days, and then it's off again.
They have a website...and there is already a sequel planned: Bubba-Nosferatu, Curse of the She-Vampires.
I'm buying my tickets now, baby.
And you're right wwolfie...Ossie Davis was spot-on perfect. How they got him to do that movie, I have no clue.

I picture Shelly Winters as Queen of the She-Vampires.
