Subject: I was disappointed by the lack of humor.

Four straight hours of complete seriousness. Yeah, the Cylons just destroyed a whole bunch of colonies, killing untold amounts of people, but that's no reason to check your wit at the door, folks.

It wasn't bad though, in fact, it was pretty good for a 2-part miniseries, and I'm someone who has seen the original series, but mostly of that series I remember:

-Starbuck was a smartass.
-Boxey went on to be Atreyu in The Neverending Story.
-The Cylons looked like crosses between the Stormtroopers in Empire Strikes Back, and the evil programs in Tron.
-That robotic dog thing was hella weird looking.

Anyway, I think it's cool that Starbuck is a woman, but again I come to that sense of humor thing. I realize she's holding onto a lot of guilt about Apollo's brother, but she IS human (so far at least), and humans have senses of humor. A rebellious attitude will only get you so far as a character. I mean, hell, Riley punched out his superior officer too, and did that win him any points with most viewers?

I really did like the relationship between Apollo and the President. And also Apollo and Adama. In fact, Apollo was just cool.

So yeah. If they make this into a series (which I'm guessing they will), I hope they leaven their heavy drama with a few jokes here and there. I'm not asking for the show to be a comedy, but you'd be surprised how much one or two well-placed jokes will go a long way toward keeping viewers like me entertained, interested, and coming back for more.

that they were trying to avoid some of the cheese of the original, so they went with a very serious approach to the story. Now that the "rag-tag fugitive fleet" is making its way through space, I would think that they'd have to incorporate more humor. The funny is a part of life, after all.
