I have been toying aroud with the free trial for Anarchy Online for a change of pace. I needed somethin' new to play with, I think.. lots of old friends leaving AC, nothing too terribly new to do, and my own clan scattered to hell and back.
Oh, I am not leaving AC. But I have to say.. I do love scifi, and AO surprised me bigtime.. all I had heard was it was buggy as all hell but, it has run near flawlessly for me.
The environments are AMAZING.. tall grass, weird ancient trees, actual 3-d rain blowing in the wind, huge cities.. little critters scampering around.. enemies that are very unique.. and smart enough to wander around instead of just sitting in place.
It's a big, big world and while you do have to choose a profession.. every character CAN lift any skill in the game, and there are huge numbers of ways to modify yourself with 'nano programs' that act like spells, cybernetic implants.. you can even get deeply into weapons and armor smithing, or create robots to do chores for you like healing and fighting.
It's... cool. :)
Just thought I'd mention, in case anyone else had ever been curious about it but stayed away due to the bad press around release time.
In AC related news.. I hit 78, and stoo got 65 and lockpicking.. and our vassals are all pushing past 40 now and going well. Sadly, Soldor/Katie Kaboom has decided to leave as well.
I have been looking for a minor/major willpower or war helm/gaunts for fun..it is nice having something to go after again, finally, useful for a mage. =)
