The cocky adolescent saunters into the Den, a smug look on his sharply-defined muzzle... until he lays eyes on his brother. Ears sweeping up and then flattening, Gu lunges forward, stopping directly behind Akartis and spinning to face the three others in the Den. Even an arrogant male as he is, Gu will not disrespect an elder, and so gives Seleth a deep head-bob. However, Devan and Esaki earn a vicious snarl from the young tan, and he sniffs the air suspiciously. No, they'd not harmed him. They didn't smell like fight. The Korat casts a glance over his bony shoulder, taking in his older brother's health as though he'd not noticed before... and in truth he hadn't. Surprised and with a strongly-flicking tail blade to ward off approach from behind, he sidles up beside Akartis and presses his flank against his sibling's, a youngling's way of comforting someone in distress.

Gu's heard of Akartis' life, and how many times he's come near death -- but this was nothing new. Any Korat on Lavana faces their possible demise at every dawn and every dusk, t'isn't an unusual event to come from the brink of death to live again. Gu has always pictured his older brother as a battle-seasoned warrior, tough like their mother but still... "cool" like he always thought his fellow tans were. The concept of Akartis being weak or a "tortured soul" never crossed the youngster's mind. So when he saw him in distress, naturally he thought of the one thing that could shake a Korat up - battle.

Silent, the tan sniffs his brother's fur. Sweat and the scent of fear. Defiance and rebellion. It spells out a fight, but there's no matching scent; none of the other three in the Den are even remotely battle-active. Ears flicking in his confusion, the pale-furred beast nudges his brother lightly on the shoulder. If Redwood were to find them right now, he knows full well she'd do something drastic. Possibly disown them both. The young tan sniffs the incoming wind, and knows his mother is still far off. Then he returns his concerned attention on his brother. What is wrong with Akartis??
