The dual-colored wolf padded quietly along beneath the trees. It was the middle of summer, and yet she felt cold, frozen inside. Seeing all those with mates and families, she could not help but give a bitter sigh. She had known loneliness as a pup, and now it was returning to haunt her. She missed her brother more than ever, her heart unbearably heavy as she thought of him. But how could she ever expect to find a mate of her own, a companion and a lover? She did not want to be abandoned again, it was her worst fear. She was always being left behind, it seemed, abandoned and forgotten. And with Toya's talk of leaving to seek members from his old clan, she felt the sting of loneliness even more. She lay down beneath the shade of a large tree, resting her head on her paws and blinking back the tears that threatened to spill.
