roster downloads and players names -- Jamey, 00:40:29 09/05/01 Wed

i just downloaded your roster update and I was just wondering if that included putting the names of the players on the shirts or if it just updated the rosters with the latest players. Also if you know how to use this sharkport i could use some help. The main reason i even bought the sharkport is so I could download the players names, so you could tell who everyone is. The download is on ign's web site and is in the section that talks about ncaa 2002. I tried to download that but there dosn't seem to be anything to download. If you guys could help me it would be greatly appreciated

As far as I can tell there is absolutely no way to create your own schedule in the game. I read somewhere that the developers WERE going to put the feature in the game - but the option seems to be conspicuously absent.

you have to go in the pause menu during a game, then go into settings, then where it says player displays, switch that to name. If you're player has a name inputted this should work, if not i cant help you.

I played a season on Madden and NCAA. I exported my draft class from NCAA, but I didn't get a pop-up menu after the Pro Bowl on Madden (so I can't draft my ncaa class) what do i do?

To redshirt players: At the end of the year, after the recruiting and cutting is done you are given the option to "redshirt" a player. You do this by highlighting the player you want to redshirt and click the X.

Remember that you can only redshirt a player for one year which increases their stay at your college for a maximum of 5 years. Once a player touches the field, he is no longer eligible for redshirt status so make sure he is way down on your depth chart.

Did you input the players' names via the edit player option? If you did then I'm not too sure why the names aren't displayed.

But if you didn't, you must input the names yourself (or download a roster off the internet) to have the real players names in the game.

just go to gamesages.com then go into codes for ps2, then into games with N then ncaa 2002 and they have a roster save for the sharkport.

Running the option -- Dave, 11:55:51 08/14/01 Tue

How do you hand off to the fullback when running the triple option? I've tried using the lateral button when the QB holds the ball out to the FB, but then the QB pulls it back and starts down the line with the HB. Am I not hitting the button fast enough or is there another trick?

EA Sports hint page says to hit x to snap the ball, and hit x again to hand off to the FB. I haven't tried this, but it is from EA's site.

Actually when you press x to snap the ball just hold it. It will hand the ball to the fullback.

The way I do it is just hold the button when you snap it. You CAN push the button twice - but sometimes I miss it.

So just hold the button down.

Immediately after you hike the ball, press the X button again and hold it till the quarterback hands the ball to the fullback.

All you have to do, it hit the X button just before the QB fakes the FB, this will hand it off.

Can someone please explain the concept and benefit of redshirting players. I live in Canada and know jack squat about college football - but I'm learning!

I think I know what it means - but I fail to see the benefit of it.

When a player is in college, he can only play 4 years. Redshirting allows a player to practice with the team, but not play in any games for the first year. This gives him experience and leaves him open to play 4 more years.

The benefit is in the extra experience and knowledge of the team he gets during that redshirt year.

it is also true in real life. players in college can even apply for a medical redshirt if they are hurt and miss the year.

RE: You have to go to options, rosters, edit players. It will allow you to change their apperance, their name, their equipment. Everything but their player attributes.

all you have to do is go to create a prospect. It is where create a player would be in the normal menu. BUt after the season just go to create a prospect, create a player and make him from the same state that your school is in.
That is all you have to so.

Once you've exported your desired class from the Ncaa game, is there any way to send that particular class to the free agent pool in Madden versus putting the players in the draft?

inserting your players into madden 2002 is really cool. what it does is sends them into the draft in franchise mode.
At the end of the season in Madden, after the pro bowl it will say "GO TO OFFSEASON" "IMPORT DRAFT CLASS" "CANCEL" click import draft class and then it will have you load it from your memory card. they even make madden ratings that realistic, like a player that is a 99 in ncaa wont stay a 99 in madden.

I couldn't get mine to work right away either. It took me a while but keep checking to make sure everything is plugged in and keep fiddling with the wires and connections. I have used it many times and it still takes me about 5 min. to get the thing to work because I have to keep doing that. If you still can't get it to work, I'm sorry, don't know how to help you, but, good luck!

Did you ever get your Sharkport to work? Mine is new and has yet to work. I'm hopeful but need more info on how to check if saves from the card to the PC are actually in the PC. When I gt it working I'd like to write a better FAQ about SharkPort.

Here's how I got mine to work (it took awhile):

To be safe, download the latest Sharkport (about 5 MB)software from Interact's website and uzip it all into a single new folder.

Plug the USB into both components (with PS2 turned off)

Before you install the Sharkport software: On your PC, go to Settings->Control Panel->System, then find the USB device and update its driver by browsing for the Drivers folder from the Sharkport software you downloaded--or from the disk that came with the Sharkport.

Once the driver is set up, install the Sharkport software

Don't run the Sharkport program yet. First, turn on your PS2 and insert the disk provided with your Sharkport. Give it a few seconds to load.

Once you can see the interface on your TV, open the Sharkport program on your PC. Now you should be able to see the contents of your memory card and the files on your PC by playing around with the lower section of the interface on your PC.

To move files from your PC to your memory card, first you must import saves. Once you see the file you want in the Games Found column, check the box and click restore. That's it. The file should now be on your memory card.

If you haven't made it this far because of a USB connection error, you may have to email Interact and request a new PS2 boot disk. There are numerous ones based on the date number (ex. 1A, 2B, etc.) found on the back of your PS2.

The problems I was having seemed to have to do with order of procedure--like installing software before a driver or opening the Sharkport program on my PC before turning on my PS2. So try different successions to get it to work.

The pass interference call on Miami -- Agustin Alvarez, 08:21:27 01/04/03 Sat

Hello, my name is Agustin Alvarez and I am from Miami. I am a BIG Miami Hurricane's fan, and like many people was watching the game against Ohio State on Friday. In overtime Miami stopped that pass in the end zone, and the official with the clearest view on the field called it an incomplete pass. That means the game is over and the Canes won. Yet, another official after the play was called and the game was over, throws a flag and calls pass interference. That was a bad call period. I read in ESPN.com that he himself wanted to Review the play in his head to make sure it was holding but then he saw it was pass interference. Lets be honest here, the official wasn't sure what to call, he had to think about the play after it was over, then after the official with the best view calls it an incomplete pass, this man in the back field has the nerve to call it pass interference, why was that allowed? My questions are the following, why doesn't the NCAA review the way this call was made, as well as the call, and see if the original call should have stayed? I don't want them to come out saying " Ohh the game is decided blah blah blah", no, that�s not what I'm asking for. I would just like to see if the official messed up and to let people know. Bottom line is Miami didn't step it up at the very end. Second, I honestly think this man's credibility should be questioned for the fact of his view on the play, the fact that he was indecisive in making that call, and also the fact that he overruled another official�s call even though the other official was right in front of the play with the best view on the field. Would the NCAA finally realize that college sports need instant replays and allow coaches to challenge plays? Thank you for your time, and Congratulations to the Buckeyes.

Can you Create players for Division II schools? If you add a division II school to your list of division 1 schools, you still can't create any players for them!!

In my opinion, I think the Florida Gators are well deserving of the #1 preseason ranking in the AP Poll. And even though I'm not a Steve Spurrier fan, I think that any team that has 17 starters back from a team that went 11-3 and plays in the SEC should always be looked at with great admiration.

Problem with loading first game of season -- craig, 11:05:31 02/04/02 Mon

me and a friend of mine both have dynasty's going. he's on the 4th season and i'm on my 3rd. the problem is that each year excluding the first, our first game is unable to load. we end up having to simulate this game that we would very much rather play. is anyone else having this problem and if so is there a remedy?

Question about Dynasty mode -- Garett Chau, 14:31:53 12/24/01 Mon

I played dynasty mode with Oregon and went 5-6, 5-6 and then 11-1, but I still got fired because I didn't win the national championship. Is there a way to get my team back? i.e. can I create a coach with 4 prestige or higher to take the job? I tried creating a coach, but he only starts with 1 star. I was thinking maybe there was some secrets.

Once the play ends press and hold triangle...This will bring the team immediately to the line. You can use square to audible a new play or run the same play you ran before by pressing x to snap the ball

Tips for Def -- Adam, 23:03:15 10/02/01 Tue

I was getting torched on def no matter what I did, so was pretty pissed off. Decided I would try a different camera view and used the classic instead of NCAA, which allows me to see the field better, especially on def. It has shown to help. Also use different formations on def, like audible to a different one at the last second, definitely use coverage audibles, like triangle then circle puts the guys in safe mode so to speak, and helps on the deep passes that I keep getting burned on. hope this helps

Playing a friend of mine neither of us could stop the pass. We were throwing for 400-500 yards a game, hardly ever throwing an interception. I started playing mostly dime packages and the wide receivers are much better covered. Started picking off some passes, knocking lots of balls down. Of course, now the run is open. Works even better playing the computer. I like to use the coverage audible also but i prefer the bump and run. I dont like to give up the underneath routes.

Yeah, I don't know either. Usually the comp. average is in order from best to worst, like #1 is better than #2 and #7 is better than #8, and so on. Someitmes thats not true though.

The BCS composite is calculated by several factors. They take into consideration the toughness of your schedule. Such as if you play lots of ranked teams or if your opponents all are really bad teams. This gives a person credit for beating higher quality opponents. Another factor is the conference or division. A team that wins the SEC or Big 12 has a better chance than a team that wins the WAC. They also take into consideration how badly you beat your opponents. So play in a tough conference, with a well known school, run the score up and you should be ranked high enough to play for the title.

ok, i have finally figured this thing out, first you have to turn of your sharkport and download the roster save onto your computer. next go onto your ncaa 2002 game and create a roster file called EL SEXO and save it to your memory card. next turn on your sharkport and all you have to do is transfer your roster save on your computer to your memory card. then all you have to do is load your rosters to your game, and there you have it.

I love this game but my friends all want to play madden. If there are any adults (I'm 28, married and have a son) who would like to play this game competitively email me or call me at 446-8083 and we can set up a time to play.

To me football is like chess but as this game has no online compatability I have grown quite tired of beating the computer.

I'd like to play 10 minute quarters on dynasty mode.

Also because you never know who you will meet on the net WE MUST meet in a neutral site like a restaraunt the first time just to make sure there are no weirdos knowing where I live.

Nothing freeky. Just football and ADULTS ONLY please.

My Awesome Dynasty -- stuf92, 14:49:44 09/26/01 Wed

Hey guys, heres the story of my dynasty.

I started off year 1 with the University of Minnesota. I struggled and went 3-10. The next year an okay 6-6. I already knew i would be fired so i wanted to make the best of year three. A greataccomplishment at the time for me i finished ranked No. 21. After being fired i looked for some jobs and chose hawaii because of the Aloha dome, and the climate. My first year was outstanding as i went undefeated but lost to Virginia Tech in the no 3 - no 4 game. The next year i went undefeated once again (although both years i did have an easy scheldue) but lost big to Notre Dame in the championship. I am now 11-0 in year 6 with a 4 star team prestige. I am currently in my final game and my previous was a 43-0 pounding of #21 Cincinatti. My first year i averaged 56 points per game! Now i am ranked #2. I have the top heisman candidate and the #3 heisman candidate. The #1 guy is Jackie Giles my receiver/cornerback (1023 years, 13 touchdowns, 16 tackles 1 int.) I'm about to play Washington State, so we will see what happens

Recruiting in Dynasty Mode -- David, 06:40:30 08/30/01 Thu

When playing Dynasty mode I lost in the National Championship game the first year and won it in the second season. On the top 100 list i found a LOT of players that had me "very high" on their list. Yet when I recruit them I only get one out of about eight. I am using all of the visits, both head coach and assistant. The book says the more points you use the better. I am not finding this to be so. Any body out there have any helpful information?

Your coach rating and team prestige has alot ot do with how many recruits you will land. I started with KU and won the National Championship also but I was lucky to have recruited 6 or 7 players and the ones that I did get were rated 4 stars or lower. At that time my coach rating was 2 or 3 DESPITE winning the Championship. After my third season, my rating jumped to 4 stars and I resigned from the program and took over a more prestigious team. I then managed to recruit 9 players and a few of them were blue chips.

Yes you can create polayers for ncaa 2002, while in the dynasty mode, during the offseason but before you start recruiting go into rosters. then it will let you do create-a-recruit, this is the only way i know how

I recently completed my first season with Notre Dame. None of my players stats from the year before were recorded. Also, during that season, none of my players were listed on the leaders pages or were nominated for awards (Julius Jones had 2000 yards and 20 tds). Does this happen to anyone else? If so, is there a way to remedy that?

Also, doesn't everyone think that for next year there should be an option to just let the computer generate the names of unnamed players?

Hey all,

My friend and I play our dynasties vs one another.

He controls ND and I, Nebraska and we both try to mess up each others teams each season and get the other coach fired.

Scoring on the game even on heisman level seems to be very easy but stopping a smart human player on defense is very tough.

One year I got to play w/Fla St vs Chris and they had all 90+ defensive players yet still they could not stop the offense.

What it comes down to is this I think...if you run a hurry up offense and mix up the plays in the same formation you can really take advantage of the defenses weakness.

Forgive the lengthy post but I will list an example.

As Nebraska I use all Maryland I for my audibles because it doesnt give away which side the play may go to to a human player.

I come to the line for the 1st play w/my tightends jetting to the end zone my back going left and my other back going right. If I see one of the LB's blitzing and will be out of position I hit that receiver quickly for a minimum of 5 yds.

If the LB's and Safeties decide to cover this then I will just run up the middle for a minimum of 4 yds. This will work against even teams that have def tackles of 95 ranking if you have a good line if you have a quick back who and can hit the hole fast.

If the human opponent keeps the linebackers in position to cover the receivers and tries to bring the safeties up to stuff the middle run then you can audible into an option and take it laterally for a nice gain.

I know this must be how teams that face Nebraska,Fla,Fla St,etc muct be feeling in the film room in real life but on this game I would love to find some strong defenses that cover pretty much everything equally.

A defense that would stuff the middle, contain the outsides,stop the out routes and double the deep receiver seems impossible but that is what it will take to stop a good human player I believe.

Also the above example is just one. There are many formations that will not give away the play and you can just do an at the line read of the defenses weakness and exploit it.

I think the biggest problem is the failure of corners to cover out patterns. My corners are all 99's and still if the ball is thrown at the perfect instant when the receiver turns off to the side the ball will get in there.

I had the same problem with the game getting scratched. Not only this game but, Triple Play baseball and Tiger Woods golf. I figured it was only EA sports game but then a friend of mine had Resident Evil ruined. This is a defect in the PS.. RE: A blue chip is a term used to describe the elite football recruits. These recruits come in with better attributes. In the "real" football recruiting world, blue chips are the most saught after because they are the most talented.

Running Plays -- David, 06:43:14 08/30/01 Thu

When playing and exhibition game or season or dynasty, when I call a running play it shows where i am running on the screen. It has bright orange lines and arrows showing where I am running. I have the play notification off and it still shows up. Anybody have any ideas as to what I need to turn off to get this to stop showing up. It is hard to run against friends when they can see where you are running.

I'm looking for a printable version of each roster in NCAA 2002. I guess I'm too lazy to purchase a gameshark. So far I've edited 10% of the players. Some of the players are not listed in the magazine I'm getting the names from. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

ps Why isn't Kevin Jones in the game for Virginia Tech. He was the top high school recruit last year. Clemson's top recruit Roscoe Crosby isn't in the game either.

I just bought a sharkport but I havn't figured out exactlly how to use it yet. That's the main reason that I bought it. But I havn't really figured out how to use it yet. So i'm not sure if that roster download will work or not. Here's my email address if you find anything out. jf1008@peoplepc.com

Hi,

I don't believe there is an option to input spirit stickers to your players' helmets. That is simply a default bonus which comes with the games. Remembering also, that alot of colleges do not use spirit stickers.

Do you know what it means to forgo your senior class to Madden 2002? Does it mean to put them in the NFL Draft or Just to put them in the game. Is it like NFL Gameday and NCAA Gamebreaker. How DO I look at my players GPA.

Is anyone else having trouble with the game getting scratched? I rented it the day it came out and somehow the game had already been scratched and was unplayable. So, I went out and bought it, ran good for a week, and now mine is unplayable also. The game went directly from the case and into the ps2 so it never had a chance to get scratched. Anyone else having this problem? If not, do you think it could be my ps2?

When you are looking at the top 25 standings there is sometimes a number in brackets just to the right of the top 6 or so teams. What do they mean?

The number one team usually has a much larger number than the rest. Does this have anything to do with voting?

I don't think so. Some teams have alternate uniforms - but ND only has their regular home and away jerseys. The only way it could happen is if the jersey could be purchased on the campus cards - and I don't see that happening.

In the game when you set the uniforms liek the elbow pads, and turf tape and stuff, do you choose what they were in cold or hot wheather or grass or turf or both? Is it the same for madden 2002 also?

You can set them for turf and grass.

This has no effect on the gameplay, but I hate when I recruit new WRs and they all wear a jersey # in the 80's, RBs and DBs all wear 20-49, DTs and DEs all wear 90-99, etc. This is not the NFL. I can have a WR who wears 21, 3, 15, 17 in college, or my RB wears 1, 4, 8, etc. So what I do after all the depth chart stuff is over is go through some teams and change the #s by using the edit player function.

Where is the All-Conf. team at the end of a season? -- Dat1Dude, 15:19:43 08/08/01 Wed

I remember reading in several previews of this game that there would be an All-Conf team for each conference. Did it not make it in the game before production and distribution, was it false information, or am I just not looking good enough?
