Subject: {Warning! I know nothing of SCUBA diving OR safety. Do not try this at home! Or at the beach}

"First," she laughs, "You can put those heavy aqua-lungs down!" Aranye nudges her own with her foot. "An apprentice from when I was younger sprained his back carrying one of those things. It's usually better to drag it behind you, or carry it, until you're in the water. Then, when you're about waist deep, you can put it on, then go immedietly into deeper water. Being in the ocean takes nearly all the weight of your gear off your back. Next are the hand signs." Aranye makes the first sign. Her palm faces outward, and her fingers are straight. The thumb is set apart from the rest of her fingers, out to the side. "This is 'stop.' You make this signal if you need to stop for some reason. Usually it's accompanied by 'surface,' which happens to be the most useful sign there is." She straightens her hand so that it is on the same line as her forearm. This time her thumb is against pressed against her pointer finger. Aranye moves her entire arm, from the shoulder to her finger tips. "Then you can actually talk, as some words are too hard to communicate using handsignals." She pauses, scanning the group. "Got that?"
