Subject: preparations Author: dsl [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 10:45:37 09/12/01 Wed in the small microcosm of my world, yesterday was a pain. took jeff to jury duty down in hayward cause the recorded message said "come in". had to go back and get him cause the court was actually closed. picked up drawings from the printer. took them to richmond. tried to watch the tv news inbetween. watched all afternoon and into the evening. my brain was, and still is, overwhelmed with the enormity of what's taken place. it took a tremendous effort to focus on just the simple job related chores yesterday. i want to take in INFORMATION but so much of what we're getting now is just hearsay and opinions and raw emotions. i had to turn of the radio this morning because the idiots calling in to vent were so ignorant, callous, hatefull..... they say the nation stands together, but if you listen to the radio it is clear that we don't. the lunatics on the right and on the left are railing at the government to do this, do that, blindly without forethought or consideration for consequences or realities. i have such little faith in the shrub or his administration. his speaches and comments so far have been laughable in their predicatability and insincerity. all i could do yesterday was pray for cheney and powell, because the shrub is so far out of his element that he may as well be on the moon. yesterday i kept thinking that i wanted to be in d.c. i wanted to be at the state department formulating policy. everything else seems so pointless and trivial. coming in today after taking jeff to his jury duty, i couldn't invision sitting down and resuming my work. the reality is that with the shrub in charge we are teetering on the brink of annilization, of all out world war and there is nothing we can do beyond prayer...and we all know how effective that is. the repercussions from this event will echo into the future long after we've died. i fear we may have to fight in the streets to maintain and preserve our civil liberties. our imperfect but relatively open and free society will be attacked from the inside, by the far right and far left idiots claiming they are trying to "protect" the country. do the people have the where-with-all to stand against the coming lunacy? i hope so. i've got an interview for a potential new flat remodel this afternoon. somehow, i just don't care.
