Things are going well with my mentees, particularly with their primary project. We undertook iMovie training, and have met twice since then to work on the project. Everyone is feeling more comfortable with the program, but feels a sense of urgency, since there's a Dec. deadline for completion. On the other hand, such a clear goal keeps everyone focued.

At this point, I'm pretty vocal on the aesthetics but feel ambivalent about taking this position, since ultimately it's not my project, and I won't be presenting it. However, I feel that at this time, having an opinion is helpful to them in terms of making the ultimate decisions--they can and do disagree with me, but at least they're not sitting around wringing their hands over every frame, at least not yet! So I feel that I'm helpful to the cause, along with being technically helpful.

One mentee continues to need some direct coaching on computer basics, but has been absent recently, which has cut down on the time I can spend with her. However, we'll hopefully be able to schedule some regular time, and she'll move forward quickly in her skill development.

Mentoring takes a lot of time and energy. I enjoy it but it contributes to things being very busy.
