You're right, Joe. Mentoring can drain your time and energy if you let it. Setting up a schedule and trying to stick to it should help. Also, keeping a very limited journal can help you keep track of some of the "stray" time that gets added in. Use your schedule and journal to help focus and limit your mentoring time to a reasonable amount. Using something concrete like that can make it a little easier to say "no" when you need to.

Glad to hear it's still a positive experience at this point!
