For so long Ice had followed Mist's lead in hunts, and then, later, when Cascade Mountains had been abandoned, she'd learned to hunt on her own, small critters mostly, or the stray fawn that failed to heed it's mother's cautions about staying down and still. All her practice from hunting within a pack, or in pairs was coming back to her. How to read her companion's body language, muscle tension, and focus. She had situated herself half a step behind the other, and a good five or six feet to the right, her own body not nearly as well hidden. An ear flicked toward the other at her answer, but her gaze remained focused in front of her, for any sign of food.

The rustle ahead of them had Ice's haunches quivering in anticipation for just a second as she crouched down into the high grass, her belly resting lightly on the ground. She glanced against toward Kossos, seeking to catch the others eye. If she could, she'd circle round behind whatever it was that was in front of them. She sniffed the wind, and caught no scent. The wind was blowing across them, carrying neither their scent, or the unknown quarry's scent to either party. She spared kossos one more glance, then started moving off, silently, hidden by the tall grass. She made kept herself low, and quiet, pausing constantly, watching her surroundings, and constantly scenting the wind to make sure it hadn't shifted. At this rate, it wouldn't take her long to make it around to the opposite side of where Kossos was. Because of her own dark hue, she'd be a poor party for laying in ambush. Better to leave that to Kossos, who could blend into the grass, while Ice chased their meal into the trap... Hopefully it was a meal, and not another wolf, or something equally as mean, like a badger.
