Oh, no, I'm not Pilgrim Soul, but she is a great friend of mine. We used to post together at the ASSB. =) I'll see if she would like to post. I posted as "Blue" also at the ASSB. Hopefully things will pick up on this board eventually.

Exactly and in addition to this, I think the writers did this on purpose to show that Darla is in no way trying to use this baby to get revenge on Angel. I find it incredibly interesting that all this time she's been abiding by Angel's wishes, and if there was one tried and true way to get back at him, it'd be through the baby.

But what does she do? She tries to get rid of it. She tries to get rid of her one and only chance to get back at him.

She simply doesn't care to.

Interesting and I'm thankful the writers went this route.

Right now, my gut feeling is that
>the baby is human and I don't think it is evil. If it
>were evil, it would have burned or killed that shaman
>who tried to get rid of it.

That's a good point! All it did was send the shaman away from it so that the shaman couldn't harm it. And think of it this way. When flame boy was almost released from his fire prison he tried to kill and burn Skip in return, but the baby in no way tried to kill the shaman. I agree also that the baby is human but has incredible strength.

I agree. I mean there's been so much focus on the baby but what about Darla? Is she special in some way? Why did the Powers choose her to just happen to have Angel's baby?

Maybe they know or see something in Darla that's not so obvious. This second revamped version of Darla is different from the previous vamp version, and even "Redefinition" highlights this. I would love to see a morally conflicted Darla. Maybe the baby will be her guiding star?

>My feeling is that the writers are trying to portray
>Darla as the ex-wife from hell complete with kids and
>alimony. Angel doesn't have to fall in love with her
>all over again, but he does have a connection to her
>that cannot be staked away, I hope.

That's true. Can Angel stake the mother of his child and would he even have just reason to? I'm thinking because of this baby they will have to develop a connection some way some how.

>I started to re-watch Angel, and Darla was portrayed
>as the ex-girlfriend. I cannot tell you just how hard
>it is to reconcile this young girl (Buffy) falling in
>love with Angel after all we know now. At the time I
>was okay with Darla being staked offhand. Now, if

And I think that is key and I felt the same way back then by the way. The difference now is that Darla's been getting some sympathetic development and also this isn't that Darla from the Angel episode. I've definitely developed a strong connection to the character and mostly it's because I've sympathized with what she's been through.

I'm probably rehashing what I said before, but I think if the writers were trying to show Darla in a completely black hat way, they would have shown her trying to get some sort of revenge on him through this child.

But she doesn't.

In fact she's tried everything she could to get rid of it so that she wouldn't have to resort to her last choice: to go to Angel. Hm, I wonder if she will sing for the host again to find some answers before seeing Angel?

>>I bet you more than anything that there will be a war

>I've been having the same feeling too. This kid wasn't
>supposed to happen, but he did. That more than

Exactly, and there are so many ways to go here! It's awfully exciting! Angel right now really isn't focused on the future but how can he not now when his own child will be living in this future?

>It's nice to meet you, too, Blue. I look forward to
>seeing more ep reviews and theories from you.

Aw shucks! Thanks!

=)
