Varnie is on track to graduate either 2004 Spring or Summer quarters. In order to graduate next spring, what he would have to do is take 16 units during fall and winter quarters. This would definitely take away from either his grades or his basketball performance. Redshirting would let him take the majority of his tough course next year, and mainly focus on basketball in 2004-2005. The result would mean good grades next year and even better performances the following year in basketball. If he plays next year there's a chance that he might not perform as well on court because he wants to have his degree when his eligibilty is up.

He has some cartilage in his knee... what he needs to do is build up muscle around his knee to better support it. If he can do that... the sky's the limit for him.
